A film's poster and title appear. Choose the rating you think it was officially given, then submit. Switch between US MPA ratings (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17) and UK BBFC certificates (U, PG, 12A, 15, 18) in the settings.
An exact match scores 100 points. Being one rating off, for instance PG-13 when the answer was R, scores 50. Two or more off scores nothing.
The mix includes family favourites, gritty thrillers and comedies that sit right on the line between ratings, which is where most players slip up.

MPA ratings are issued in the United States by the Motion Picture Association (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17). BBFC certificates are issued in the United Kingdom by the British Board of Film Classification (U, PG, 12A, 12, 15, 18). The same film often gets a different classification in each country.
The game detects your region and defaults to BBFC for UK players and MPA for everyone else. You can switch at any time in settings.
Ratings are taken from each film's official theatrical release certificate for its country, via The Movie Database (TMDB) release data.
Many films were re-rated for home release or re-classified in later years. FilmIQ uses the original cinema release certificate.
